The CUBE, UNC-Chapel Hill’s hub for social innovation, is accepting applications for the 2013 UNC Social Innovation Challenge from aspiring UNC social entrepreneurs interested in launching a venture to solve social or environmental problems.
The CUBE will accept applications until Dec. 27. The competition is open to undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty. Through the application process the CUBE identifies and supports promising ventures at UNC that try to bring solutions to the world’s problems. Applicants will be classified in five tracks: environment, education, health, arts and sports, and socioeconomic development.
Winners of the 2013 Social Innovation Challenge receive access to co-working space in the CUBE, one-on-one mentoring, pro-bono support resources, seed capital and professional feedback to help take their ideas to scale.
Important dates:
- December 27, 2013 – Applications due by 5 p.m.
- January 1, 2014 – Finalist teams selected and notified
- January 6-10 – Finalist teams present to selection committee
- January 13-17 – 10 winning social ventures announced
