Walk-in flu vaccination clinics are open to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill students and employees on campus through Nov. 13.

This year’s vaccine protects against the three flu viruses that experts predict will be most common this season: influenza A (H1N1) viruses, influenza A (H3N2) viruses and influenza B viruses.

The vaccination cost is covered for those insured with the state health plan or Blue Cross Blue Shield. Cost is also covered for anyone insured with the following companies:

  • Pearce and Pearce
  • Aetna
  • Humana Gold
  • SummaCare
  • Advantra Freedom
  • Medicare Part B

Those not insured with the companies listed above can still receive a flu vaccination, but must pay $25 at the time of their flu shot. Those opting to receive the FluMist must pay $35. Payments can be made in the form of cash or check.

To reduce wait time at the clinic site, students and employees can complete a consent form online and bring two copies of the form to the vaccination clinic, along with a UNC One card and an insurance card.

A complete schedule of vaccination clinics is available here. For more information on the flu vaccine resources for the 2014-2015 year, visit UNC’s Department of Environment, Health and Safety online.
