More than 80 life-sized painted fiberglass cows are on display throughout the region, including 15 on Carolina’s campus, as part of CowParade North Carolina 2012.
Professional and amateur artists from the region whimiscally transformed the fiberglass cows into diverse and fanciful works of art, many with a North Carolina theme to them.
The 15 at Carolina are spread out across the campus, including some near South Building, McCorkle Place and Kenan Stadium. Cows named Ramooses, Lady Carolina Bloo and Alexander Moo-lian Bow-vine are among those “grazing” on campus.

Other large groups of the CowParade North Carolina cows are on display in North Hills and downtown Raleigh and in the American Tobacco Campus and the Golden Belt Campus in Durham. Some cows are grazing in outlying pastures, such as at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.
The cows will be on display through Dec. 7. The best of the exhibition cows will then be sold at a live auction at the CowParade NC Gala Auction on Jan. 26, 2013. The cows that don’t make it to live auction will be auctioned online after the gala. The proceeds will benefit the North Carolina Children’s Hospital.
CowParade first began in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1998 and has since been staged in more than 50 cities worldwide, raising more than $30 million for its noprofit partners in those cities. CowParade is expected to attract more than 500,000 visitors to the area.
