The Ackland Museum Store, on the corner of Franklin and Columbia Streets, in downtown Chapel Hill, will reopen on Friday, July 27, at 10 a.m.
The store was forced to close after a plumbing problem on June 18, 2012, flooded most of the building’s first floor. No inventory was damaged, but the store’s carpeting, some of the drywall, the cash wrap counter and many shelving units had to be replaced.
In the store’s retail gallery space, the exhibition Earthly Delights, featuring pottery by Joseph Sand and textiles by Sondra Dorn, will again be on view. The show’s closing date has been extended to August 10, 2012.
“We would like to thank the many people who assisted us in our rebuilding efforts, especially our loyal customers, who have emailed, called and dropped by the store to cheer us on,” said Alice Southwick, Ackland Museum Store Manager.
The store supports the educational mission of the Ackland Art Museum, with all proceeds from the store supporting the museum’s exhibition and education programs.
Store hours are Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Sunday noon – 5 p.m.
