A delegation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, led by Chancellor Carol L. Folt, visited UNC strategic partner King’s College London this week to extend the alliance between the two universities, first initiated in 2005.
The partnership is one of the most ambitious between a U.S. university and a U.K. university, covering a diverse range of academic fields. King’s College London is one of the world’s leading research and teaching universities based in the heart of London.
Folt met with Professor Sir Rick Trainor, prinicipal and president of King’s College London; Joanna Newman, vice-principal for international; and Tayyeb Shah, director of international strategy. Folt and Trainor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to renew the longstanding partnership between the universities.
“I’m delighted to come to King’s for the first time and receive such a generous welcome,” Folt said. “The alliance between our institutions is of deep value to Carolina faculty and students, and it’s been a pleasure to learn more about the important collaborative work underway and to identify new and exciting potential research collaborations across the arts and sciences.”
