Tar Heel Downtown, a pregame fan experience, is once again coming to Downtown Chapel Hill on Oct. 18, along West Franklin Street near the Plaza at 140 West.
The free event — featuring a live outdoor concert, family fun activities and the Marching Tar Heels — will take place at 4 p.m., three hours prior to kickoff between the University of North Carolina and Georgia Tech at Kenan Stadium.
“Tar Heel Downtown has evolved into a unique way to champion downtown, all the while celebrating Carolina Football,” Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt said. “College football spirit comes right down Franklin Street. And we celebrate together – the marching band, cheerleaders, football fans, visitors, students, residents. Everyone agrees that it’s great fun in Chapel Hill.”
The event is hosted by the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, UNC Athletics and the Town of Chapel Hill.
