The University is offering clinics for seasonal flu vaccinations through Nov. 17. The 2011–12 vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that are expected to be common this season: 2009 H1N1, an H3N2 virus and an influenza B virus.

About two weeks after vaccination, antibodies that provide protection against influenza virus infection develop in the body, said Mary Beth Koza, director of the Department of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).

The campus community can click here to register or at the EHS website. Students can register through Campus Health Services. Walk-in clinics also are available.

Because of parking and staff limitations, on-campus clinics are for UNC students, faculty and staff only. A family flu clinic is scheduled on Oct. 22 for family members (children 4 years and older), retirees, volunteers and others who do not qualify as employees or students.
