Anyone needing materials from the General Manuscripts, Southern Historical or Southern Folklife collections in Wilson Library during the next three months should contact the staff there right away.
Stacks containing those materials will be closed in November, December and January during the next phase of a project to install fire safety sprinklers in the building.
The good news: Ask Wilson librarians before Monday (Nov. 7), and they will make every effort to set aside needed materials before this phase of the project begins. Contact them at wilsonlibrary@unc.edu or (919) 962-3765.
Parts of the University Archives, which were closed previously, will remain so until about mid-December. Starting Monday, nearly all materials in the General Manuscripts, Southern Historical and Southern Folklife collections will be closed for about eight to 10 weeks.
Next year, sprinkler installation will affect the North Carolina Collection and Rare Book Collection stacks. Anyone who will need materials from those collections in 2012 should contact Wilson librarians as soon as possible at wilsonlibrary@unc.edu or (919) 962-3765, or complete the request form at http://www.lib.unc.edu/wilson/research/request_form.html.
