Peter Blair Henry, dean of NYU’s Stern School of Business and a Carolina graduate, will share findings from his new book “Turnaround: Third World Lessons for First World Growth” during a public discussion at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium in the FedEx Global Education Center.
Henry will respond to questions by William B. Harrison Jr., former chairman and chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and chair of the UNC Global Advisory Board. A reception and book signing will immediately follow.
In “Turnaround,” Henry examines the central question of why many developing countries weathered the storm of the Great Recession better than the traditional great power nations of the developed world. Using stock market analysis to complement customarily adopted measures of policy effectiveness, he argues the developed world can learn the lessons of developing nations to recover and create long-term prosperity for all of its citizens.
In 2008, Henry led Barack Obama’s Presidential Transition Team in its review of international lending agencies such as the IMF and World Bank.
