Single-performance tickets for Carolina Performing Arts’ 2011-2012 season will begin July 5 at the Memorial Hall box office – online or in person – at UNC-Chapel Hill.

On June 27, flex subscription packages will go on sale, allowing patrons to create their own packages of six or more performances of their choice.

The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays at 140 E. Cameron Ave. Subscriptions and tickets also can be purchased at www.carolinaperformingarts.org, by phone at (919) 843-3333, or by mail to the Memorial Hall box office, UNC-Chapel Hill, Campus Box 3276, Chapel Hill, N.C., 27599-3276.

CPA already is selling series subscription packages. The six series are dance, roots, jazz, world, classical ensembles and classical recitals.

Prices vary with types of performances and seat locations. Single-show tickets range from $10 for UNC students with UNC One Cards (all performances) to $109 for the best seats for Mary Chapin Carpenter on Oct. 18. (Tickets of $54, $74 and $84 also are available for that concert.)

The season will begin with two performances, Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, by one of Europe’s most distinguished chamber orchestras, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen of Germany. Next will be rock and gospel singer Mavis Staples and New Orleans pianist Allen Toussaint on Sept. 14.

Sept. 23 will bring a work choreographed by Durham native Hope Boykin, a dancer for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, to Memorial Hall. Philadanco, which blends African American-based dance with ballet, jazz and modern, will perform the new work, which CPA commissioned.
