Beginning Oct. 1, the University’s Finance, Human Resources and Payroll applications will join Student Administration (formerly Campus Solutions) in ConnectCarolina.
This transition has been in the works for years and is an important milestone for the University. The powerful integrated system will provide better information to support future decision-making. The change will affect the entire University before, during and after go-live.
First, many of the existing business systems will be offline during the last two weeks of this month, while the project team prepares the new system for use and loads data from the legacy systems into ConnectCarolina. Many of the older systems will be permanently replaced by ConnectCarolina.
After the Oct. 1 go-live, some of the processes and procedures for things including purchasing and hiring will change, and units’ business offices will provide information about these potential changes.
Access to the new Finance and HR/Payroll applications will be granted based on job responsibilities, but all employees will have access to ConnectCarolina’s self-service menu at connectcarolina.unc.edu using their Onyen and password. From this menu people can:
- View their paystubs. They can still go to payroll.unc.edu where they will find a link to ConnectCarolina. TIM is not changing, so people who currently use TIM will continue to use it in the same way.
- Place orders for software. This will replace the ITS Software Acquisition system. The business office for each school/unit can provide information regarding software-purchasing policies.
- Register for training classes offered by the Office of Human Resources.
- Update personal information for the University directory.
After the Oct. 1 go-live, everyone can receive help and support at the ITS Help Desk. A special business systems help desk has been established to answer questions about new and expanded capabilities of ConnectCarolina. People can contact the Help Desk at any time at 919-962-HELP or help.unc.edu; their concern will be routed to the proper place.
