The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host a luncheon to honor students, faculty and staff who have served in the United States Armed Forces on Nov. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Carolina Club located in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center.

The event will include lunch, veteran recognition and keynote speaker Russell S. Edmister.

A graduate of Chapel Hill High School, Edmister received his bachelor’s degree in business from Carolina in 1962 and his MBA in 1968. After college, he served two years in the U.S. Army including a year in Vietnam in the Engineer Command in Long Binh. He retired from IBM after 39 years in 2007 and earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from N.C. State. He has since completed more than 130 video interviews of North Carolina military veterans to create video oral histories for the Military Collection at the North Carolina Archives in Raleigh.

An overview of the University’s veteran organizations, programs and resources will also be provided. The luncheon is hosted by the Carolina Veterans Organization, Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Human Resources and UNC Diversity and Multicultural Affairs.
