North Carolina’s national title-winning women’s lacrosse team and women’s soccer team were honored at the White House on Monday.

President Barack Obama hosted the 2012-2013 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s champions at an event on the South Lawn. Obama welcomed the student-athletes from schools across the country to congratulate them on their accomplishments in the classroom and on the playing field.

UNC’s women’s soccer team, coached by Anson Dorrance, won its 21st NCAA championship and its 22nd national collegiate title overall in the fall of 2012. Carolina’s lacrosse team, coached by Jenny Levy, won its first national championship last spring.
