On Dec. 9, Carolina students, faculty and staff can help people who depend on lifesaving blood donations when the University hosts its 16th annual Holiday Carolina Blood Drive. Campus and community members can donate blood from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Fetzer Hall on South Road. Free parking is available in the Cobb Deck off Country Club Road.

Through the blood drive, sponsored by the Employee Forum and American Red Cross Blood Services, donations will benefit local patients as well as those across the country. Last year’s holiday drive collected 310 pints of blood, potentially touching or saving the lives of 930 patients in need of blood products. Of the 293 donors, 29 were first-time givers.

All presenting donors will receive a free T-shirt from the American Red Cross.

You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or by signing up online at www.redcrossblood.org, sponsor code: UNC. For more information about eligibility to donate, or to volunteer, see blooddrive.web.unc.edu.
