Carolina will draw attention to the Research Triangle area’s leading efforts in the clean-tech field by hosting its first annual Clean Tech Summit on Wednesday.

Clean tech includes smart grid technology, efficient water management, efficient, multimodal transportation, environmentally sustainable waste disposal technologies and more.

The daylong summit will be held at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill on Feb. 26. The UNC Institute for the Environment and the Center for Sustainable Enterprise in UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, in partnership with the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster and Strata Solar, are convening the annual summit.

Event highlights include:

  • Opening remarks by Strata Solar founder and CEO Markus Wilhelm;
  • Opening keynote address Brad Ives, assistant secretary for natural resources at the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources; and
  • Luncheon keynote address by Sensus Chairman Lou D’Ambrosio.

Panel discussions will focus on clean tech landscape, smart cities, economic development and more.
