Time is running out for faculty to move material out of Blackboard. The learning management system will shut down at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and any material left in Blackboard after that date will be inaccessible.

Instructors who want to preserve their uploaded course files should extract materials before the shutdown. Details instructions are available at the “Later is Now” link at https://blackboard.unc.edu.

Faculty can request assistance with the migration process with an ITS consultant before Dec. 14. Several webinars also are scheduled. For more information, visit the UNC-Chapel Hill Sakai blog.

Blackboard is being replaced by Sakai, an open source collaboration and learning environment. Sakai provides greater flexibility and control, an expanded tool set and longer term sustainability.
