Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn will perform at UNC-Chapel Hill on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 P.M. Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) present the husband and wife musicians who will perform as a duo for the first time in Chapel Hill.

This performance is a rare chance to see Washburn and Fleck perform together. They will play music they developed as a couple in informal settings, a mix of traditional and original songs and tunes. Throughout their years together, the two have always made music, whether for their own pleasure, for family and friends, during a year of touring with the Sparrow Quartet, and in some very rare live duo performances.

The recipient of Multiple Grammy Awards going back to 1998, Fleckā€™s total Grammy count is 14 Grammys won and 30 nominations. He has been nominated in more different categories than anyone in Grammy history. Washburn is one of the few foreign artists touring China independently and regularly. Her latest release, City of Refuge (2011), written with collaborator Kai Welch, takes her bold and expansive talent to new heights in its raw, ethereal, and at times lushly orchestrated musical vision. Washburn was named a TED fellow and gave a talk at the 2012 TED Convention in Long Beach about building US-China relations through music.

Availability is limited, but tickets are available, including recently opened seats in the orchestra pit.
