The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education rolled out its fifth Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with 14,160 students from 158 different countries enrolling. The six-week course, “Fundamentals of Rehearsing Music Ensembles” begins this week.
Evan Feldman, UNC Wind Ensemble conductor and assistant professor of music, is teaching the course.
In early 2013, UNC-Chapel Hill announced a partnership with Coursera, an online education company that provides a platform for delivery of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Coursera partners with the top universities around the world to offer non-credit courses online for anyone to take, for free.
Overall, 160,000 students from more than 190 countries have participated in UNC-Chapel Hill MOOCs since the first course launched in 2013.
